About Oropendola
Oropendola sources distinctive coffees directly from producers in Colombia and roasts them in small batches in Seattle.
We believe exceptional coffee starts with the people and places behind it. Our coffees come from direct relationships with producers and farms we know, with an emphasis on distinctive varieties, careful processing, and traceable lots.

Our current coffees come from Santander, Colombia, where we work with producers growing coffees such as Tabi and Colombia Amarillo at high elevations in the mountains of the region.
Rancho Cielo, Curití, Colombia
At Rancho Cielo in Curití, we work with producer Juan David Jiménez Forero, whose Colombia Amarillo is grown at approximately 1,950–2,000 meters and processed as a honey coffee.

Finca Santa María, Aratoca, Colombia
At Finca Santa María in Aratoca, our Tabi Honey is grown at 1,775 meters and produced by 22 women heads of household. The farm is Smithsonian Bird Friendly certified, combining specialty coffee production with habitat that supports birds and biodiversity.
We visit the places our coffee comes from, meet the people producing it, and build relationships we hope will last across many harvests.
The coffees are then roasted in Seattle with the goal of preserving the qualities that made us want to buy them in the first place.
Oropendola is about distinctive varieties, distinctive origins, and a closer connection between the people who grow coffee and the people who drink it.
Why Oropendola?
We first encountered oropendolas and their hanging nests while hiking among coffee trees in Colombia’s Sierra Nevada. Distinctive in sight and sound, the bird became a fitting symbol for the expressive coffees we seek from farms that keep forests and the life within them thriving.
